WHY WOMEN SHOULD GET STRONG!

Strength.

When we first think of someone being strong, we probably think of someone super ripped at the gym who squats double their body weight. Or maybe we think of someone who is emotionally strong, strong minded, confident, a leader.

But newsflash - they are built from the same thing, because all women have strength.

Think of building your physical strength as a gateway to show you how to build strength in all other areas of your life. Finding empowerment in building strength is a game changer. I’m not saying you need to be Arnold Schwarznegger but there is so much to gain from building your physical strength other than gaining muscle.

Tick off the Checklist below to see if you are calling out YES! to what strength can bring into your life ⬇️

Increased Self Esteem
There is nothing that will make you say “wow, I am actually pretty amazing” than watching yourself get progressively stronger in the gym. This building of pride and momentum in our abilities then starts to empower you in your relationships, work and your own relationship with yourself.

Builds Shape
I’m gonna hit you with some cold hard facts here. You won’t build those shapely gluteus or shoulders by jumping about or sprinting. You’ll do it by building some muscle mass! Lifting 3-5 times per week (at a challenging weight) over time leaves you with a lean, shapely bod.

Higher Sex Drive
Did you know that women who strength train have a higher libido? That’s because a strength workout releases testosterone, which is known as the “growth hormone”. Testosterone and estrogen are responsible for our desire to “get jiggy” as it’s human nature for us gals to grow babies. So - while you may not want a baby, strength training will make you more eager for your partner.

Feel “toned”
100% of women i speak to when doing a consult have this goal. “I just want to look toned”. But that doesn’t just mean losing fat so we can see muscle definition, we need to have some strong muscles under there to show off!

Teaches Discipline
If you follow me on socials (@katelambertfitness) you’ll know my lifting sessions humble my ego often. There is no way around it when it comes to lifting - if you want to get the results, you need to keep showing up, even when you have shitty sessions. Learning to be disciplined through lifting weights is an enormous benefit to overall life.

Stress Release
Another good thing about weights is that they can’t answer back. Feeling frustrated? Let some of that stress out at the gym instead of taking it out on your loved ones. It’s probably 80% of the reason lifting is such a huge part of my life!

No more “diets”
Whoa mama, this is one of the BEST bits! If you want to have energy to lift, YOU GOTTA EAT. Your relationship with food will be completely transformed when you stop looking at food as the reason you’re not skinny, and start looking at it as a partner on your journey. You need food to fuel your workouts, and get the best possible results - Food is our friend! You’ll be done with trying to get skinny and start fuelling your body with the love & respect it deserves.

Train less, eat more
Did you know that you’ll burn more calories in a lifting session than a cardio or HIIT session? This is because of the EPOC effect, which is our body’s increase in metabolic rate 24-48hrs post workout. YEP - you’ll burn a heap of calories in-session, then our body keeps burning calories for 24-48hrs afterward without you having to do anything extra. WIN.

Feel Powerful AF
Want to feel like a Strong Amazonian Queen? Lift some weights, and soon you’ll be lifting more than the boys. Ain’t no one gonna mess with you.

Increased Bone Density
Lifting has been found to increase women’s bone density and reduce women’s chances of developing osteoporosis. This really helps as we go through the “twilight years” of our menstrual cycle (AKA Menopause) and can make the whole process much less difficult.

One Trip With Grocery Bags
Ain’t no one got time to be going back and forth to the car! You’ll be able to get all the shopping bags in one trip and still have energy to get to your gym session.

Because it’s fun!
