5 REASONS WOMEN NEED TO GAIN MUSCLE…
THE BODY YOU WANT DOES NOT COME FROM FAT LOSS ALONE 💪🏻
TRUST ME!! The person you're tagging #bodygoals is doing resistance training!
Day after day I see the same women walk in, spend 45 mins on a piece of cardio equipment and then leave.
Literally, never stepping into the weights area, or doing anything other than cardio.
It breaks my heart!!
BECAUSE WOMEN NEED TO HAVE MUSCLE!
So let's get into the 5 reasons why Women should gain muscle…
1. The physique you want is not achieved by fat loss alone
To be "toned" you might think you simply need to lose fat. However, the shapely toned toosh you're aiming for is that way because it's got shapely muscle!
2. Having more muscle = you can eat more
Muscle mass increases your resting metabolic rate - AKA the amount of calories your body burns just to function & survive.
This means your "maintenance calories" (the number of calories you can eat each day without gaining fat) are higher than if you didn't have the muscle on your body.
3. Increase Strength
Don't tell me you don't need to be strong in your everyday life. You carry kids, groceries, luggage, and move furniture.
Having muscle will make all of these to be easier!
4. Health Benefits
Strength training & gaining muscle mass can increase our bone density, improve cardiovascular health, lower bad cholesterol & increase injury prevention
5. Help us through menopause
Menopause leads to an estrogen deficiency that is associated with decreases in muscle mass and strength. The more muscle we have going into menopause, the more we'll be able to retain for our later years!
BUT WHAT IF I GET BULKY?
Women have about 10 times less testosterone than men, so our hormonal makeup is not set up to build the levels of muscle mass men are potentially able to.
Trust me, a female needs to be training & eating in a VERY specific way to get "bulky". It won't happen by accident.
