WHAT’S YOUR IDEAL BODY WEIGHT?
What’s your number?
No, I’m not talking phone numbers here, I'm talking about that ideal weight we have in our heads, that every time we look at the scales we are praying will flash on the screen.
This was me 8 years ago ..."OMG Imagine life at 58kg!!"
I remember saying this to a girlfriend after we'd found a website where you put in your height and it tells you your "ideal body weight"
And we chatted about how amazing life would be if only we weighed 58kg
And for YEARS I carried around 58kg as my "goal weight"
So, often when I speak to women & they have a number in their head of their "happy weight", which is usually their weight from sometime in the past. They believe if they can only get back to that number, they'll finally feel good within themselves again.
But the scale is actually a very average measure of body composition and really is a flawed way to measure progress if used in isolation. Take a sigh of relief!
What is the number that popped in your head? Now I want you to stop and think about why this number has stayed with you... 🤔Were you that weight in the past? Is your life & stressors the same now as it was then (I'm guessing NO, your life has radically changed)
🤔Did you hear that from someone you trust, like a doctor telling you your BMI? (BMI does not take into account how much muscle you have, and is generally NOT appropriate for us gals who lift!)
🤔Did you read it in a magazine you idolised when you were younger?
🤔Do you feel you WON'T be worthy until you weigh that amount?
The power to love and feel proud of your body lies completely with YOU and what you believe about yourself, don't let the scale take that power away!
So let's switch it up!
Print this out if you have to, stick it on your bathroom mirror or make it your homescreen on your phone. Keep switching up the way we speak and think about ideal weight!
